The Venerable (John) Hewitt Wilson CB, MA was an eminent Anglican priest in the second half of the 20th century. He was born on 14 February 1924〔Who's Who 1996: London, A & C Black, 1996 ISBN 0-7136-4255-6〕 and educated at Kilkenny College and Trinity College, Dublin. After a curacy at St. George's Church, Dublin he entered the RAF Chaplaincy Service, serving in a variety of locations〔Cranwell, Aden, Wittering, Cottesmore, Germany, The Air Ministry and the far east > Who’s Who (ibid)〕 before eventually becoming its Archdeacon (Chaplain-in-Chief) in 1973,〔The Times, Friday, 12 Jan 1973; pg. 15; Issue 58679; col E ''Latest appointments''〕 serving for seven years.〔The Times, Friday, 20 Jun 1980; pg. 16; Issue 60656; col E ''Court Circular''〕 He was Archdeacon Emeritus from 1980 〔The Times, Monday, 6 Dec 1982; pg. 12; Issue 61407; col A ''Marriages''〕 and Rector of The Heyfords with Rousham and Somerton 〔(List of incumbents )〕 until 1993.〔Crockfords (London, Church House, 1995) ISBN 0-7151-8088-6〕 He died on 29 June 2008.〔(Telegraph Obituary )〕
